becomes more clear. monday's tornado claimed 24 lives including two infants, 13,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. on sunday, president obama plans to visit the region. >> stories of resilience. a personal stories of those ready to rebuild. >> reporter: crews are working around the clock here in moore. trying to get the power restored. increased presence of police and military to make sure there is no looting going on. the governor of oklahoma said that federal funding will be available within 48 hours, help can't get here fast enough. >> 72 year-old lauren lives to tell about the tornado, she hid in her bedroom closet.

thing you notice is how little is left standing, the details that showed the school was once filled with children. much of the ceiling is gone, several feet of debris flock the door. first responders set up a command center there, it was one of the few rooms left. tonight, we know more about two of the little girls who died inside plaza towers. antonia and emily were best friends. found holding on to each other. one of the officers is still trying to make sense of what is left behind today. >> the tornado came through this way. those were all brick houses back there. this is the gym area. more classrooms, portables out there that are just gone. >> more funerals are set.
